Supreme Court Accepts Case Regarding Davit Tonoyan
The Supreme Court has accepted the appeal by lawyers in the case against former Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan. Lawyer Andranik Manukyan announced this on his social media page.
“I would like to inform you that the Supreme Court has accepted the cassation appeals filed by me and defenders Lusine Sahakyan and Yervand Varosyans regarding Davit Tonoyan. Among other things, I raised questions about the uniform application of Article 483, Part 7 of the Criminal Procedure Code and the legality of the previous arrests made before the Supreme Court's decisions of 2024,” he wrote.
It should be recalled that on September 30, 2021, the National Security Service announced the arrest of Davit Tonoyan and Davit Galstyan, who were suspected of committing large-scale embezzlement. On the same day, Tonoyan and Galstyan were detained.
Charges have also been brought against former Chief of the General Staff Artak Davtyan, former Deputy Chief Stepan Galstyan, Head of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Defense Artem Hambaryan, and Chief Engineer of the Aviation Department Vladimir Babayan.
Stepan Galstyan was released on bail of 25 million drams in December 2023.
