Executed in Their Beds: Three Dismembered Individuals Among Azerbaijani War Crimes of 2020

A resident of Hadrut recounted horrifying events from the region during a conference on "Azerbaijani Aggression Against Human Rights and Environmental Protection". "I am from Hadrut, and I stayed there until October 8. Terrible incidents occurred there. Twenty-three civilians were killed in their homes and yards. Sixteen people are still considered missing, including four women and two children. Among the dead were my relatives, David and Nina Davtyan. Nina Davtyan was blind, 82 years old, and her husband was 86. Nina was shot in her bed, and there were sixteen bullet wounds on her body, shot with a submachine gun to the head. David was beheaded in his yard, and their bodies were found 2-3 months later. Kamo Davtyan was killed in the yard of his home; he had mental health issues, and relatives could not evacuate him. Lena Hakobyan, who fled from Baku, was beheaded and dismembered along with her two neighbors, and all three were buried by a grave digger in a yard. We saw her husband, Benik Hakobyan, in a published video where he was taken as a captive with his hands raised; his body has not been returned, and his fate is unknown. Two men were executed right in the central square of Hadrut; the video has been seen by everyone, they were wrapped in the Artsakh flag and shot. Another man, named Shurik, was also executed; he was from Baku but lived in Hadrut. Bedridden Ernest Harutyunyan could not be evacuated from Hadrut; he was also dismembered, and the tattoos on his body were scratched off," explained the woman from Hadrut.
