We Must Make This Decision While Disagreeing with It, Says Prime Minister
I have come to the decision that we will not apply the two-year restriction, even though I personally disagree with it. This was stated today, November 13, during a Q&A session with the government at the National Assembly by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, addressing the previously announced exemption from customs duties for electric vehicle imports, which would only apply to vehicles manufactured in the last two years starting from January 1.
“I made this decision because I believe that our state institutions have not communicated the issue properly, and because of that alone, we must make this decision while disagreeing with it. We must also note that the quotas for 2025 will be distributed as follows: a quota of 5,000 vehicles will be allocated to citizens, and 3,000 will be given to dealers,” said Pashinyan.
He noted that in many cases, they are forced to make incorrect decisions because previous decisions have not aligned with the logic of statehood. “We are constantly in this cycle. We make a decision that is not sufficiently state and institutional, and as a result, we make the next decision, which is also not state and institutional. At some point, we need to stop this approach because in this way, we will not build a state,” the Prime Minister declared.
