No Reconstruction of Medical Centers in 2025: Minister's Clarification

The budget for 2025 includes 12.3 billion drams, which will be directed towards the construction, completion, and modernization of 13 medical centers. This includes the construction of 4 new centers, namely those in Vardenis, Spitak, Jermuk, and Artik. This was stated today by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, during a session of the National Assembly.

According to her, the Government has decided to refrain from reconstructions, as old buildings, even after reconstruction, do not meet new approaches. She emphasized the importance of providing conceptually new buildings for a new service model.

“Today, criticism was voiced regarding our focus on the construction issues, particularly claims that we lack the capability to build and face problems with contractors. I continuously ask why our opposition is surprised, as we encounter these challenges every day. I believe our approaches differ; we raise issues and try to solve them. The state, by allocating large-scale funds for capital constructions, also aims to develop construction capabilities in our country and attract new specialists. Moreover, it is essential to note that we have never had such a number of constructions, including schools, kindergartens, and medical centers,” the minister reacted to the opposition's statements.

Avanesyan also pointed out that medical equipment older than 5 years should not be imported into Armenia.
