Trump Will Have Stronger Positions Than Before: Politico

The elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, will gain more freedom of action in foreign policy due to the unity of the Republican Party upon his return to the White House. This opinion was expressed by Matthew Kaminski, founder of the European edition of Politico, as reported by TASS.

“Trump's return will give him authority and freedom on the global stage, which he did not have in 2017,” Kaminski said. According to the analyst, Trump's positions will be stronger in both domestic and international matters, as the Republicans have become more unified, and the government that the elected leader will form will be more cohesive than during his first presidential term (2017-2021).

At the same time, the expert noted that Trump will have to face a more complicated and dangerous situation in the world, as the U.S. is simultaneously competing with Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea. The columnist added that Europe is already “concerned about how committed the United States is to NATO and ensuring stability on the alliance’s eastern flank.”

Trump won the election on November 5 against his opponent, Democratic representative Kamala Harris. Additionally, the Republicans have succeeded in taking control of the U.S. Senate. They might also secure a majority in the House of Representatives. Harris has been occupying the vice presidency since January 2021. Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025.
