Russia Prepares for an Offensive: TWP
The Washington Post reports that Russia has concentrated a 50,000-strong group in the Kursk region, which allegedly includes North Korean soldiers. American analysts suggest that this could change the situation.
“This grouping is preparing for a major offensive to clear the Kursk region of Ukrainian armed forces,” the publication writes, citing Ukrainian and American sources. It is particularly emphasized that in creating this strike force, Russia did not move units from Eastern Ukraine, allowing Moscow to exert pressure on the Ukrainian armed forces simultaneously on several fronts.
The Ukrainian side anticipates an offensive in the coming days. At the same time, the publication highlights that American military and intelligence officials have started to give more pessimistic forecasts regarding Ukraine’s overall prospects. They note that Russian armed forces are steadily occupying positions in both the Kursk region and Eastern Ukraine. The failures of the Ukrainian armed forces are explained by Kyiv's inability to resolve critical manpower shortages.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported today that losses for the Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region have exceeded 290 servicemen, with three Ukrainian soldiers having surrendered. At the same time, northern forces have repelled 11 counterattacks from the enemy in the direction of Darino and Novaya Sorochina, as well as thwarted attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces towards Zelena Shlyakh and Novoyvanovka.
