Aliyev on Discussions Regarding Peace Agreement with Armenia

Azerbaijan and Armenia are in the final phase of agreeing on the text of a peace treaty, and discussions will continue after the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP29, which will take place in Baku from November 11-22, said President Aliyev during a phone call with Chancellor Scholz.

The German Chancellor spoke with the President of Azerbaijan ahead of the start of the UN Climate International Conference in Baku. Scholz also discussed the status of negotiations concerning the peace treaty text with Yerevan.

This information was reported by Christiane Hofmann, deputy spokesperson for the German government. Aliyev informed the federal chancellor about Azerbaijan's presidency goals for COP29, while Scholz emphasized the necessity of a successful conference on climate issues.

Olaf Scholz also discussed the status of ongoing negotiations regarding the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, reaffirming Germany’s readiness to support the establishment of friendly relations between the two countries. It should be recalled that in February of this year, Chancellor Scholz, Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed to initiate peace talks in Berlin. Scholz welcomed the willingness of both sides.
