Youth Defined as Ages 13 to 35 in New Legislative Initiative

The government has approved the draft law on "Youth Policy." According to Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, steps are being taken to create a favorable environment for the self-realization of young people.

Andreasyan stated that previously, the state lacked comprehensive legislation that would outline youth policy, its targets, and stakeholders. This draft is intended to fill that gap.

"Since 2022, in collaboration with the government, communities, and the private sector, five centers have been established in regions: in Aparan, Dilijan, Meghri, Ijevan, and Vanadzor. This year, four more centers will be added in various regions, and plans for subsequent years include the establishment of another six centers," the minister said.

Next year, the formation of multifunctional centers will commence in the form of youth centers, cultural houses, and community libraries.

The draft law proposes to define the age limit for youth as 13 to 35 years. "Various factors have been taken into account, which are detailed in the justification document of the law package, based on both international practices and the demographic conditions of our society," she added.
