We Do Not Want a Judicial System That Will Be an Accomplice to Any Authority - Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today, November 5, while introducing the newly appointed Minister of Justice Surbhi Galoyan to the staff of the Ministry of Justice, that he personally reflects on the reasons behind the numerous changes and investments, yet the sense of institutional trust and expectations remain below an adequate level.
“I must honestly say that one of the reasons, in my perception, is the following: we truly want to have justice and a judicial system in the Republic of Armenia, meaning we do not merely want a formal judicial system, but we genuinely desire to have a system that embodies justice and fairness. We truly want an independent judicial system, because we have never wanted, do not want, and will not want to have a puppet judicial system, as this contradicts the value system that is ours, which we have adopted and for which we have also taken the responsibility of governance in the Republic of Armenia,” he emphasized.
“We do not want a judicial system that acts as an executor of the executive or any authority; we do not want a judicial system that serves anyone’s agenda at all. Rather, we want a judicial system capable of implementing standards, including those of justice and fairness,” Pashinyan added.
