Significant Damage to Israel: What Iran Can Do
Iran, despite the recent Israeli strike, maintains its missile capabilities, which pose a serious threat to Israel's defensive capabilities. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing Western officials.
According to them, Iranian ballistic missiles could cause substantial damage to targets within Israel—especially if they bypass the Jewish state’s air defense systems. The publication notes that the Israeli attack has damaged air defense complexes that cover strategically vital Iranian installations. Therefore, when responding to Israeli strikes, the Islamic Republic must consider that it may face a strong retaliatory response from Israel’s military, including potential bombardments of energy infrastructure or nuclear facilities.
On October 1, Iran launched a massive missile strike against Israel in retaliation for the killings of key individuals among the Palestinian radical Hamas movement, the Lebanese Shia Hezbollah organization, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps leadership. Israel has promised to respond to these attacks.
On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces announced it had struck military targets in Iran in response to numerous ongoing assaults. The Islamic Republic's air defense forces stated that military sites in Ilam, Tehran, and Khuzestan provinces came under attack, but the damage was limited, with air defense systems successfully repelling the main strike. At least four Iranian servicemen and one civilian have been killed as a result of the Israeli strikes.
