If They Had Honestly Fulfilled What They Agreed Upon, Nothing Would Have Happened: Lavrov

The longer the Kyiv regime continues to undermine agreements, the less territory Ukraine has. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the opening of the 16th Congress of the Russian World.

“The longer the current leadership of Ukraine undermines agreements with the support of the West, the less territory remains under that regime,” the minister noted.

“In February 2014: if they had honestly fulfilled what they had agreed upon, nothing would have happened, and Crimea would remain part of Ukraine. But they decided to violate the agreement because they wanted to quickly change the government. In February 2015: the Minsk agreements. If they had honestly implemented those agreements, yes, Crimea would have already left, but Ukraine would have remained within its borders, including the entire Donbas. They did not want that because they did not want part of Donbas to gain a special status, which is primarily an affirmation of the right of the people living there to speak their language,” Lavrov stated.

The Russian Foreign Minister also recalled the Istanbul agreements. “Well, they had a third opportunity in Istanbul in April 2022, which Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about in detail. And, of course, the current realities are also different from those that existed in April 2022,” the Russian minister emphasized.
