Video: Death Toll Rises in Spain
Heavy rains on Tuesday have caused flooding in southern and eastern regions of Spain. Police and rescue services have utilized helicopters to evacuate people from their homes and vehicles.
It is noteworthy that the alert level in Valencia has been raised to "red," with 51 fatalities reported. Over 1,000 soldiers from Spain's emergency response units have been deployed to the devastated areas.
“Yesterday was the worst day of my life. We were trapped like rats. Cars and trash bins were floating down the streets. The water rose to three meters,” said Ricardo Gabaldón, the mayor of Utiel in Valencia.
It is important to mention that a bridge has collapsed in Valencia, a train has derailed in Malaga, and several people are still missing due to the natural disaster, which has been caused by torrential rains, hail, and strong gusts of wind, leading to widespread flooding.
