Pentagon Declares Commitment to Defend South Korea with Nuclear Weapons
The U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has announced Washington's intention to defend South Korea with all types of weapons, including nuclear ones. “I assured (South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun) that we are fully committed to South Korea's defense, and our promise remains unchanged — missile defense, nuclear, and advanced non-nuclear capabilities,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday.
Austin added that Washington also plans to conduct large-scale military exercises with Seoul.
