Threatened a Russian Citizen, Took Phone and Money: Details
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched a criminal proceeding in the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan following an investigation into a robbery incident involving a foreign national in Yerevan. During the investigation, several details of the case were clarified, including the identity of the alleged perpetrator.
A Russian citizen reported that on October 17, 2024, at approximately 21:50, an unknown individual threatened him with an object resembling a weapon near the Cascade complex's staircase in Yerevan. Under the influence of fear, he complied with the demands and handed over his "iPhone 13" mobile phone and cash. The assailant then fled the scene.
Following this incident, a criminal case was initiated under the second part, point 5 of Article 252 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The Russian citizen has been recognized as the victim and was interrogated regarding the circumstances of the case.
During the preliminary investigation, a scene inspection was conducted where the victim pointed out the exact location of the incident. As a result of operational-search activities, the identity of the alleged perpetrator was established, who turned out to be a 25-year-old resident of Armavir.
Video recordings from surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the crime scene have been confiscated and examined with the participation of the victim. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 25-year-old under the second part, point 5 of Article 252 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
A decision has been made to arrest the suspect, which has been delegated to the corresponding division of the Police of the Republic of Armenia. The investigation is ongoing.
