Erdogan on Attempts to Undermine Turkey from Abroad
Turkey has been facing difficulties for six years due to attempts to undermine the country from abroad. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Erdogan had previously declared that Turkey has "thrown out" all the messages directed at the country regarding the October 23 terrorist attack that occurred in Ankara, describing the attack as a sign of panic.
“We are aware of the difficulties that our people have faced in the last six years as a result of attempts to undermine our country, especially in terms of security threats. We also know that we must bury the threat of terrorism that has exploited our energy for 40 years, gnawing at our brotherhood and diverting us from our goals by using all our resources. We want to open Turkey’s doors, where we will compete not in sorrows, but in joys, where we will share wealth rather than poverty, where we will flourish in hopes instead of pessimism,” Erdogan said in his address.
The terrorist attack occurred on October 23 near the building of TUSAŞ, a corporation producing military aircraft and space equipment, followed by gunfire. Five people were killed in the attack, and 22 were injured. Two of the attackers were neutralized by law enforcement agencies. The Ankara chief prosecutor's office has launched an investigation. Turkey's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that the two neutralized terrorists were members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party.
