How Much Money Will Be Spent on the Defense Sector

According to the state budget for the next year, defense sector expenditures will amount to 664.7 billion drams. This was stated by Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan during the preliminary discussion of the 2025 state budget at a joint meeting of the National Assembly's permanent committees.

“55.8 percent of capital expenditures will be directed towards the defense sector. Defense sector expenditures will total 664.7 billion, which will exceed the expenditures allocated for defense in the 2024 state budget by 20 percent. As a result, the spending on defense will comprise 6 percent of GDP and will be 0.7 percentage points higher compared to 2024,” noted Hovhannisyan.

According to the minister, the entire focus of the next year's state budget is concentrated on the development of the defense sector.
