Israeli Army Issues Statement After Night Strikes
The spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Colonel Daniel Hagari, asserts that successful strikes were carried out against Iranian targets, as reported by the Times of Israel.
"The retaliatory strike has concluded, and its objective has been achieved," Hagari stated at a press conference. The IDF targeted Iranian facilities involved in missile production and air defense systems in response to Iran's attacks on Israel earlier this month and in April.
"Israel now has greater freedom of action in Iran as well. Iran has struck Israel twice... and has paid the price for it. We have focused on the targets of the war in Gaza and Lebanon. It is Iran that continues to insist on regional escalation," Hagari noted.
According to him, the targets in Iran were selected from a "wide range of targets." He added, "We will know how to choose additional targets and strike them if necessary. This is a clear message: whoever threatens Israel will pay a high price."
Israel will respond to any further actions by Iran. "If the Iranian regime makes a mistake and starts a new escalation, we are obligated to respond. Today we demonstrated that we have both the capability and determination to act decisively, and we are ready for both offense and defense," he added.
Earlier, Iranian Mehr news agency reported that Israeli forces had struck military facilities in Iran, causing them "limited damage." According to the statement from Iran's air defense forces, they were able to successfully repel the Israeli strikes.
