Azerbaijan's Statement: It Serves to Resume the Conflict

Baku has labeled the European Parliament's recently adopted resolution titled "The Situation in Azerbaijan, Human Rights Violations, and Relations with Armenia" as biased.

“We categorically reject the European Parliament's resolution regarding Azerbaijan,” states a statement from the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan. The Milli Majlis has declared that the European Parliament, sidelining all issues, has "attacked Azerbaijan once again."

“The European Parliament has decided to showcase all nuances of its anti-Azerbaijani sentiments. The resolution presents absurd claims and accusations, threats and demands based on false data against Azerbaijan. There is a blatant disrespect for our country's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and attempts are being made to interfere in our internal affairs. Meanwhile, there is a preferential treatment toward Armenia, encouraging its militarization, which serves to reinforce revanchist tendencies in that country and to resume conflict in the region,” the Majlis statement indicates.

According to the statement, "one cannot speak to Azerbaijan in the language of pressure and ultimatums" and should not "rely on the false narratives of France, Armenia, and the Armenian lobby.” The Majlis considers the resolution to be “a serious consequence of the corruption and bribery entrenched in the European Parliament.”

“The Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan categorically rejects the biased and unilateral resolution of the European Parliament, which distorts reality,” the text adds.

It should be noted that the European Union Parliament adopted the resolution on the situation in Azerbaijan, human rights violations, and relations with Armenia yesterday, with 453 votes in favor, 31 against, and 89 abstentions.
