«But why should we not hurry?» Rubinyan

We are doing everything to ensure that the peace agreement is signed as soon as possible, and we are doing everything for the unblocking to happen as soon as possible. This was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan during a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly on October 24.

He recalled that recently the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan met in Istanbul and said, “Now there is an effort to make the signing of the peace agreement possible, and we are doing everything in that direction.”

In response to the question of whether there might be a need for a mediator at some point in the negotiations, Rubinyan replied, “Anything is possible, but at this stage, the negotiations are bilateral. From the very beginning, the format of the negotiations at the level of foreign ministers has been bilateral. During the actual negotiations, the parties have been alone in the room. I cannot rule out that the format may change at some point, but until now, it has been this way. The issue is one of pragmatism and practicality.”

Regarding the observation that Armenia seems to be in a hurry to ratify the regulations, Rubinyan responded, “But why should we not hurry or desire for good things to happen soon?”
