We Haven't Discussed That Detail: Simonyan on the Withdrawal of Azerbaijani Troops from Armenia
If it turns out that Azerbaijan does not ratify the regulation, then the process we have undertaken has no legal force. This was stated today by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, during a conversation with journalists in the Parliament, adding that he actually does not have such a concern that Baku may not ratify.
“Ultimately, we have coordinated all the points; it’s not the case that we just sat down, decided to ratify some document, checked whether it aligns with the Constitution or not, and brought it to the National Assembly. In other words, we have discussed it with them. Legally, there is no risk involved in this as it does not acquire legal force until we exchange,” emphasized Simonyan.
When asked if there have been assurances that Azerbaijani Armed Forces will withdraw from Armenian territory, he responded, “We haven’t discussed that detail; we have discussed that we set principles, which should lead to their withdrawal, and we should also withdraw from the areas where we are advancing.” According to Alen Simonyan, the current discussions with Azerbaijan are about a final document that has been agreed upon with them.
