Turkey's Involvement in the Armenian-Azerbaijani Settlement Process is Obvious: Alen Simonian

Turkey has not proposed to act as a mediator in the efforts to finalize a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated today during a press briefing with journalists by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian.

He noted that the only proposal involving Turkey is the use of the "3+3" platform, which the Armenian side will discuss and respond to.

It is noteworthy that at the recent meeting held in Istanbul under the "3+3" format, Armenia and Azerbaijan were offered to use the "3+3" platform to complete the ongoing work towards the peace treaty. The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkey: Ararat Mirzoyan, Sergey Lavrov, Jeyhun Bayramov, Abbas Araghchi, and Hakan Fidan.

"Turkey's involvement in this process is obvious, and the desire is also apparent. It is natural that there should be, and there will be, but there has been no proposal," he said.

Alen Simonian also added that after the last meeting with the Turkish side, he has the impression that Turkey is also waiting for the signing of the peace treaty, which, according to the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, is good news.
