VIDEO: New Details on the Incident of Three Passengers Falling from a Bus
On October 20, the Ararat division of the Police of the Republic of Armenia reported that on the same day around 19:20, during traffic on the bridge of Vank near Ararat, the rear door of a 'TEMSA BG 124 H' bus opened under unclear circumstances. As a result, three passengers fell onto the road and sustained bodily injuries.
Following the report, a criminal case was initiated on the same day by the Investigative Committee's Vedi investigative division under the first part of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
An inspection was conducted at the scene with the participation of the driver, at the beginning of the mentioned bridge of Vank in the Ararat region, as well as at the section of the road leading to Yerevan where the bus was parked. There were no traces of braking or tire marks at the scene. The examination of the bus revealed no damages.
It was also established that the bus is designed to carry 36 passengers, and there is a button located near the rear door within the cabin that opens and closes the bus door when pressed.
After the inspection, the bus was recognized as physical evidence and handed over to police custody. The driver's potential alcohol consumption was checked, and he was found to be sober.
It was found that on October 20, sixth-grade students from a school in Yerevan, along with their parents—33 people in total—had taken the aforementioned bus for an excursion to the Noravank region of Vayots Dzor. While returning to Yerevan around 19:20, when they reached the beginning of the Vank bridge, the rear door of the bus, currently under investigation, opened under unclear circumstances, causing one child to fall to the edge of the road. Another child and a nearby parent attempted to help but also fell onto the road.
They were first transferred to the 'Ararat Medical Center' LLC, from which two minors were then sent to two different medical facilities in Yerevan. According to the data received from the medical facilities, the condition of the injured is satisfactory.
The investigation is ongoing.
