Injury Caused by Another Student in Classroom: Details

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has reported that on October 14, a notification was received regarding a minor who was taken to medical assistance with a diagnosis of "injury to the right thigh" after being hit by a projectile from an air rifle in the military training classroom of Yerevan's number 93 school.

Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, provided further details about the incident.

"Preliminary data indicate that the bodily injury was caused accidentally by another student in the military training classroom who discharged an air rifle (Tiri)," he stated.

In connection with the incident, on October 15, 2024, the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case at the investigative division for Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative regions under Articles 167, Part 2, Points 4 and 8 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. During the preliminary investigation, the injured minor has been recognized as a victim and has been interviewed. They have since been discharged from the hospital.

The military training teacher has also been interrogated. Forensic medical and ballistic examinations have been appointed. The air rifle has been seized by the prosecutorial body for necessary evidentiary and procedural actions. The investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to clarify the circumstances of the incident and provide a legal assessment of the actions of those involved.

Currently, there is no information regarding the use of firearms during the incident or evidence of the minor sustaining a gunshot wound. Further information will be provided based on the results of the appointed examinations," he wrote.

It should be recalled that it was previously reported that the student was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
