A New Type of Corruption is Developing

Recently, a new type of corruption is developing through brokerage companies. This was announced by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a procedural meeting.

According to him, these companies claim they can arrange matters related to construction permits, effectively deceiving builders. “They say they can organize it with a 90% probability, but there is a 10% chance that it won't work. If the Yerevan Municipality gives a positive conclusion on the construction permit through its standard process, it means the issue is resolved. If it doesn't, they say, ‘Well, it didn't work out, that 10% came into play,’” Avinyan elaborated.

The mayor also addressed builders directly. “Don’t be naive; the process of making such decisions in the Yerevan Municipality is quite diversified, and opinions on urban development projects are provided by independent architects. Architectural design tasks and construction permits are granted only based on the opinions of the architectural council. Therefore, I do not recommend utilizing brokerage services, as they are essentially companies engaging in illegal activities. Their hope lies in your naivety,” Avinyan noted.
