Video: MBC Office in Baghdad Attacked After Report on Hamas
The office of MBC television channel in Baghdad was attacked following a report that referred to the slain leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah as "terrorists." The Middle East Broadcasting Center is a media conglomerate based in Saudi Arabia and is one of the largest in the Middle East.
Today, MBC aired a report on the elimination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, labeling him a "terrorist" and listing the crimes committed by representatives of the movement. In response, Shiite and Palestinian organizations accused the journalists of treason, serving Zionism, and the United States.
“The propagation of enemy ideas, the dependency on Zionist-American supremacy, and submission to its proponents will bring nothing but shame, disgrace, and loss in this world and the hereafter, as they pursue a mirage,” stated a declaration from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. They also called for a boycott of the channel across the Islamic world.
After the report aired, a crowd gathered near the company's office in Baghdad. Local authorities dispatched special police units, but they were unable to contain the people. As a result, a group of activists stormed the office, vandalized it, and attempted to set it on fire.
