Hamas Political Bureau Leader Killed: Sky News Arabia

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reported the elimination of three members of the Hamas group during operations in the Gaza Strip. According to initial reports, among those killed may be the group’s leader, Yahya Sinwar.

The Israeli military's press service stated that the identities of the deceased cannot be confirmed at this time. The IDF has promised to provide more detailed information about the operation later.

Representatives from Hamas have not yet commented on the reports regarding the death of their leader. However, Sky News Arabia later confirmed the death of the head of the Palestinian political bureau.

According to a source from the television channel, Sinwar was killed during clashes with Israeli soldiers in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. The 61-year-old Yahya Sinwar has been the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, a founding member of the organization’s military wing, and a co-founder of the militants' internal security unit.

He has been arrested three times by Israel in 1982, 1985, and 1988. In 2011, he was released from an Israeli prison as part of a prisoner exchange involving IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. In 2015, the U.S. included Yahya Sinwar on its list of international terrorists.
