If That Were the Case, We Should All Take Knives and Stab Aghazaryan: Kocharyan

During a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, the head of the Permanent Commission on Defense and Security, and member of the ruling Civil Contract party, Andranik Kocharyan, addressed the recent incident that occurred yesterday. He criticized how the media handled the situation, suggesting they isolated a small fragment of the seven-hour interaction, depriving the public of the opportunity to appreciate the work being done. Kocharyan emphasized, "The security bodies belong to all of us, and their shortcomings will soon affect us all on a personal level."

Kocharyan continued, "Praise me a little, I managed the situation in a way that not only prevented it from escalating but also allowed us to enter a phase of substantive discussion. I believe that any official should be very restrained. The National Assembly is the highest representative body; anyone can speak freely here. It is a place for dialogue and listening, and we should rebut arguments without descending into personal insults. The state environment rejects boyish approaches."

He pointed out the necessity of having integrity among the leaders of the security forces, especially noting, "Aghazaryan is older, and he often puts us in uncomfortable situations. If that were the case, we should all take knives and stab Aghazaryan, but that should not happen. He is a deputy and has the right to express his opinion openly, but it is unacceptable to pressure a deputy using language related to his son's legal issues."

When asked whether the behavior of Kyaramyan had been discussed in the faction, he replied, "Not yet. But I believe that the faction will definitely address these issues." Regarding the possibility of organizing a signature collection for Kyaramyan's resignation, Kocharyan stated that it might not be necessary.

It is noted that yesterday's discussions in the National Assembly included an incident between the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan, and the Civil Contract MP, Hovik Aghazaryan.
