Brothers Attacked with Bats and Metal Rods; One Dies
The investigative body of the Syunik regional investigation department of the RA Investigative Committee has established several details regarding the incident of the murder of one brother and moderate injuries to another brother, who are residents of the Ararat region, within the framework of an ongoing criminal investigation.
On October 10, 2024, the Mehri police department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report about the urgent medical transportation of two brothers, aged 41 and 36, suffering from "polytrauma" and "open wound on the scalp" from the territory of the Lichq community.
During the preliminary investigation initiated regarding the incident, on October 12, 2024, the Syunik regional department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs reported to the Syunik regional investigation department of the RA Investigative Committee that a 41-year-old man diagnosed with "polytrauma" had died on October 11, 2024, at 21:50 at the Erebuni Medical Center.
As a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions, as well as operational measures taken within the framework of the criminal case, it was established that the brothers had sustained the injuries while being beaten by employees of a private company.
Specifically, on October 8, 2024, at around 01:00, near the 30th km of the Mehri-Yerevan highway, at a junction leading to the Lichq village, H.B. along with G.A. and another unidentified individual, realizing and complementing each other's actions, attacked the brothers with numerous blows to various parts of their bodies using metal tools intended for tearing and breaking apart pipes, during a dispute regarding the brothers taking away their fuel containers and storing them in the basement of a rented house in Lichq.
Additionally, motivated by the desire to punish the brothers and take revenge on them regarding this issue, on October 10, 2024, at around 09:00, these individuals attacked the brothers again with wooden bats and metal rods, inflicting multiple blows to various parts of their bodies, including vital organs of the 41-year-old man, causing injuries incompatible with life, and moderate injuries to the other, 36-year-old brother.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained, charges have been brought against H.B. and G.A. under Article 195, Part 2, Clause 5, Article 155, Part 2, Clause 8, and Article 167, Part 2, Clause 7 of the RA Criminal Code. Requests have been submitted to the court for their detention as a measure of restraint, which have been granted.
Further investigative and procedural actions are underway, and operational-investigative measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case, identify all possible persons involved in the criminal offense, and provide legal assessment of their actions. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
