Netanyahu on Striking Iranian Military Sites

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has informed the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden of his readiness to strike Iranian military sites, rather than oil or nuclear facilities, according to the Washington Post.

"Netanyahu told the Biden administration that he is prepared to hit Iranian military targets, not oil or nuclear facilities," the publication cites sources. This, notes the Washington Post, suggests a more limited response aimed at preventing a large-scale war.

The first phone conversation between Biden and Netanyahu in several weeks took place last week. The newspaper reports that Netanyahu has adopted a "more restrained position" than before. This, among other factors, influenced Biden's decision to send Israel a powerful THAAD missile defense system.
