Armenia Will Do Everything to Defend Against Any Attack - Armen Grigoryan
In the context of the unblocking process, any discussion regarding corridor logic is an aspiration towards the territories of the Republic of Armenia. The principles of unblocking are well-known to Armenia, and they are based on the principles of reciprocity and equality. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, during an interview with Factor.am.
“Unblocking can only occur if the infrastructures are under the control of the respective state. In Armenia's case, this means implementing unblocking within the framework of Armenia's jurisdiction. These are the conditions under which unblocking may take place. In all other cases, of course, no unblocking will occur,” he emphasized.
When asked whether Azerbaijan still refuses to agree to the involvement of an international monitoring organization in the unblocking process based on reciprocity principles so that they can be present not only during the movement through Armenia but also in the territory of Nakhichevan, Grigoryan responded: “Unblocking is about ensuring security guarantees in both Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia is ready to involve other institutions only based on the principle of reciprocity. That is, reciprocity and equality are also important principles. We have not yet been able to reach an agreement on this issue.”
Regarding Azerbaijan's internal atmosphere, whether they lack any motivation to sign a peace treaty, the Security Council Secretary said: “We have a motivation to sign a peace treaty and are trying to advance it to finalize the peace agreement, and we see many partners who want to see this peace treaty finalized.”
“Armenia will do everything to defend against any attack. And Armenia is only gaining the capability for the purpose of organizing defense. The scenarios may vary; at this moment, we may not be prepared for all scenarios, but our efforts are directed towards having sufficient capability to neutralize all threats. And this is a continuous process. The Republic of Armenia continues to develop its capabilities to be ready for as many scenarios as possible to protect its territorial integrity,” Grigoryan emphasized.
