New Details on the Case of the Former Mayor of Gyumri's Son

There are new arrests in the case of Khachatur Balasanyan, the son of former Gyumri mayor Samvel Balasanyan. This was stated by Gor Abrahamyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of Armenia, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.

Earlier, it was reported that Khachatur Balasanyan was arrested at the "Zvartnots" airport. He informed that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, one of whom has been released.

The arrested include current Deputy Mayor of Gyumri Suren Janoyan and Ruben Sanosyan, who held the position of Deputy Mayor during Samvel Balasanyan's term. The Prosecutor's Office demanded the annulment of the decisions made by the council and the mayor concerning the land belonging to Khachatur Balasanyan, located at 2/7 Gars Highway, adjacent to the Black Fortress in Gyumri. According to the Prosecutor's Office, these plots of land were of special significance and could not be sold.
