This Cannot Be Acceptable for Armenia, Says Pashinyan

Azerbaijan's perceptions, in my impression, are as follows: the 'Peace Corridor' project worries Azerbaijan because this project could bring tens of billions of benefits to Armenia. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at the conference 'Peace Corridor: Integrating Security and Democracy.'

'This fact could potentially bring two concerns for Azerbaijan. The first is if Azerbaijan genuinely believes that Armenia has aggressive plans towards Azerbaijan in the strategic perspective, this could create perceptions that those tens of billions of dollars could be used against Azerbaijan. But there is also the reverse; if Azerbaijan has aggressive intentions towards Armenia, it might concern Azerbaijan that those tens of billions of dollars could be used to enhance Armenia's defense capabilities, and Azerbaijan may face issues in implementing its aggressive plans against Armenia,' said the Prime Minister.

Pashinyan stated that if Azerbaijan's concern is the first one, it is a removable concern because Armenia, through its political and strategic policies at the highest level, has affirmed that we have no aggressive intentions towards Azerbaijan and generally towards the countries of the region. We recognize the territorial integrity of all our neighbors and are ready to assume de jure obligations regarding this.

'The fact is that Azerbaijan, with its current rhetoric, wants Armenia's roads to be used for its benefit while Armenia continues to remain in blockade. It is understandable that this cannot be acceptable for Armenia,' said Pashinyan.
