Armenia to Increase Quota for 0% Customs Duty Electric Vehicle Imports

The Armenian government has decided to increase the quota for importing electric vehicles with a 0% customs duty. According to Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, the EAEU council has established a quota for the import of 8,000 electric vehicles duty-free, but the government has reserved 600 electric vehicles.

The justification states that Armenia has been allocated a tariff quota for the import of motor vehicles with electric motors for the years 2024 and 2025, with a total quantity of 8,000 units, under which a 0% customs duty rate will be applied. For this year, a quota of 7,400 electric vehicles has been established, as the government plans to reserve 600 units.

The deadline for importing electric vehicles at a 0% customs duty expires on December 31. According to the Customs Committee, as of September 16, 6,524 electric motor vehicles have been registered and released, of which 4,658 were imported by individuals (71.4%), and the remaining 1,866 (28.6%) by legal entities.
