US Embassy in Armenia Responds to Statements from Russia's FSB
Recently, the head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), Alexander Bortnikov, stated at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS: "The Americans and Europeans are clearly not interested in establishing stability in the South Caucasus. The West is trying to lead the Azerbaijan-Armenia reconciliation process and achieve the placement of its 'peacekeeping' contingent in the region."
In response to this declaration, News contacted the US Embassy in Armenia for a comment. The diplomatic mission stated: "Our support is aimed at helping countries respond to the demands of their citizens for accountable, democratic leaders who work towards strengthening peace, stability, and prosperity."
