Why No Fire Safety System Was Installed at ‘Domus’ Hypermarket: Tsutsulyan Details

Before the fire at ‘Domus’, there was no explosion, but during the event, a window shattered in the central area. Earlier, the Ministry of Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection stated that the 'Decora Group' company, which includes the network of ‘Domus’ hypermarkets, had not yet conducted any regulatory functions. These activities are scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.

During inspections, the Director of the Emergency Situations Department had no information regarding fines or warnings to the company, as this falls outside his responsibilities.

Tsutsulyan emphasized that there was no explosion prior to the fire at ‘Domus’, but a window did shatter in the central section during the incident. It is worth noting that on October 7 at 12:57 PM, a fire broke out in the warehouse of the ‘Domus’ hypermarket on Isakov Avenue, which later spread to the shop area. The fire has since been contained and extinguished. Currently, post-fire suppression activities are underway.

At the scene, 17 rescue teams, 5 operational vehicles, and 2 fire ladders from the emergency service have been deployed, along with 5 water trucks from the Yerevan municipality.
