New Details on the Fire That Erupted in the ‘Domus’ Store Warehouse
Currently, there are no reported injuries, and the causes of the fire will only be known after an investigation. This was stated today, October 7, by the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, while discussing the fire that broke out in the warehouse of the ‘Domus’ store on Isakov Avenue.
“As of now, our information is that everyone who was inside has evacuated,” he said.
When asked why the fire could not be extinguished, he responded, “The fire is currently spread over an area of 2500–3000 square meters. The rescue service is operating with 17 fire units. Five cooperative vehicles, two ladder trucks, five water trucks from the municipality, and additional firefighting units are arriving to provide assistance. According to preliminary information, the fire started from the storage area and has also spread to the store area. Furniture, appliances, and construction materials are currently on fire.”
He noted that no theories regarding the cause of the fire are being discussed at this time, as there has not been an investigation yet.
It should be noted that at 12:57 PM on October 7, the National Crisis Management Center received a call that a fire had broken out in the storage area of the ‘Domus’ hypermarket located on Isakov Avenue in Yerevan. Given the complexity of the fire, a level 3 alarm was declared, and four additional fire teams from the Fire and Rescue Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Yerevan were dispatched to the scene.
The smoke is visible from several kilometers away. The fire has spread from the warehouse to the store area.
