Large Fire at DOMUS
A fire broke out in the DOMUS store located on Isakov Avenue in Yerevan on October 7 at approximately 12:55 PM.
The fire alarm system was activated, and the company’s security personnel and other staff performed urgent actions using available fire prevention equipment in an attempt to extinguish the fire. However, it spread rapidly, engulfing the entire area of the store.
The likely cause of the fast spread of the fire was the combustibility of the internal finishing materials of the area. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known and will be determined as part of the ongoing criminal proceedings. Nevertheless, according to eyewitness reports from DOMUS employees, it is suspected that the fire may have originated from an energy supply point connected to a solar power station located on the building's roof, resulting from fluctuations in the electrical current.
In connection with circulated information and hypotheses in the media, we urge the public to refrain from disseminating unverified information, including claims regarding the absence of fire safety measures at the DOMUS store. Such measures were indeed in place, but they were insufficient to prevent and quickly extinguish the disaster.
It should also be noted that during the rental period of DOMUS LLC, the State Urban Development, Technical, and Fire Safety Inspectorate registered no violations of fire safety regulations at the store.
DOMUS LLC expresses satisfaction that its employees, customers, and other individuals present in the store were able to be evacuated quickly from the fire scene and that no incidents related to their lives or health were reported. The extent of the damage caused by the fire is still being assessed; however, it is only material in nature.
