Armenian Foreign Ministry Releases Statement
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement: On October 7, ahead of the meeting of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan participated in the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council in Moscow.
During both the narrow and expanded format meetings, agenda items concerning the activities of the CIS were discussed. Following the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan addressed the decision to grant the city of Meghri the honorary status of ‘Cultural Capital of the CIS’ in 2026, also emphasizing the city’s ancient cultural heritage.
In relation to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, it was noted that events would be held in 2025, with Minister Mirzoyan emphasizing the Armenian people’s contribution to the fight against fascism, racial discrimination, and intolerance.
The meeting also addressed issues related to regional stability and security. Ararat Mirzoyan touched upon recent developments regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly focusing on the signing of a peace treaty.
