Paris Responds to Netanyahu's Statement on Macron's 'Shameful' Proposal

The Élysée Palace has deemed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's response to French President Emmanuel Macron's proposal to halt arms supplies, which could be used in military operations in Gaza, as excessively harsh. This information was reported by Agence France-Presse, referencing a statement from the French president's administration.

“Unnecessary words that do not match the friendship between France and Israel,” quoted the agency a representative of the Élysée Palace. The Macron administration assured that France remains "an unwavering friend of Israel."

On October 5, Macron expressed on France Inter radio that suspending arms supplies to Israel for military operations in Gaza is a priority on the path to a political resolution of the conflict. The French president, recalling Israel's actions in Lebanon, also stated that he considers it unacceptable to “sacrifice” the Lebanese people. He emphasized that Lebanon should not become a new Gaza and called for a cessation of military operations.

Netanyahu described Macron's proposal to halt arms supplies as disgraceful and declared that Israel will defeat all its adversaries even without Western assistance.
