Bagrath Archbishop Responds to Michael Archbishop's Statements

The actions taken by the Constitutional Court are the first fruits of ongoing apolitical practices, which have resulted in us being subjected to coercion, pressure, and threats. This was stated by Bagrath Archbishop in a conversation with reporters.

He also addressed the statements of Michael Archbishop Ajapahyan, the leader of the Shiraz Diocese: 'We may have ideological differences, but the target is the same. This present-former false trap has been created so we do not escape from this network. I have great respect for Michael Archbishop, he is my teacher, my mentor. He has said some things about me, which I do not accept, but that does not mean I should engage in insults. How do we differ from these thugs and hooligans?' he said.

Bagrath Archbishop added that the last time he spoke with Michael Archbishop was about a month ago. It should be noted that Michael Archbishop had declared that one of the failures of the Sacred Movement had been the 'shadow of former presidents,' which became evident during this time. In response, Bagrath noted that he has been in opposition during all presidential terms in Armenia, but during that period 'we lived in the realm of mistakes; now we live in the realm of tragedy.'

'During all that time we had Artsakh and were at the highest level of security. Our problems were internal issues; no hostile country threatened or imposed anything on us,' he added.

Bagrath Archbishop Galstanyan also commented on his interview aired on Public Television. 'We did not go to give an interview; we set a task to appear on Public Television, and we solved that problem. And suddenly, many people started philosophizing after this small victory. The field is open for everyone; they can act; why are they not acting?' said the leader of the 'Sacred Struggle.'

According to him, the format of the interview afterwards was purely to respect the established format. 'If I had been invited for an interview, asked questions, and I did not respond, the dissatisfaction of the people would have been justified,' he concluded.

It should be noted that the 'Sacred Movement' led by Bagrath Archbishop has called for a rally in Republic Square. Recall that after the last rally, Bagrath and his supporters marched to Public Television demanding a live broadcast. The director of Public Television, who greeted the protesters, stated that they could provide a live broadcast in the format of an interview, during which the Archbishop's message could be heard. Bagrath agreed and presented his message on Public Television.
