If Trump is Reelected, Saudi Arabia May Recognize Israel

Saudi Arabian authorities are likely to agree to establish diplomatic relations with Israel if Republican candidate Donald Trump wins the U.S. presidential election. This is reported by Reuters, citing sources.

It is noted that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud may support a deal with Israel if it is brokered by Trump. Meanwhile, according to the agency, negotiations with the Saudi leadership will involve former U.S. President Jared Kushner's son-in-law, who allegedly has maintained contacts with Mohammed bin Salman even after Trump's defeat in the 2020 elections.

According to Reuters sources, progress will be made in normalizing relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel even if the U.S. election concludes with a victory for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. However, in that case, more time would be required to finalize an agreement with Israel, agency interlocutors suggest.

Saudi Arabia and Israel have long sought to normalize their relations. However, this process was suspended in 2023 following an escalation in the situation in the Middle East. In September 2024, Mohammed bin Salman stated, according to Reuters, that his country would not recognize Israel without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
