12 kg of Drugs Discovered near Armenia-Iran Border: Ministry of Internal Affairs
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports: “On October 4, around 09:20, law enforcement officers noticed a parked Nissan vehicle near the Armenia-Iran border. Upon seeing the police, the driver and passenger threw three packages to the ground.
Two men, aged 38 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of trafficking large quantities of drugs and were taken to the police department in Meghri. The vehicle has been placed under special control.
An inspection of the scene revealed approximately 9 kg 330 g of marijuana, about 1 kg 150 g of methamphetamine, around 510 grams of opium, and approximately 530 grams of a substance resembling heroin. The arrested individuals have been presented to the investigative department of Syunik province.
A criminal case has been initiated. The circumstances are being investigated.”
