Video: I Am Not Azerbaijan's Spokesperson, Says Pashinyan
During a question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed opposition MP Garnik Danielyan, saying, "Mr. Danielyan, do you not read the press? Do you think this is an evening for the naïve?"
He continued, "Now you are asking me if you do not see what demands are being voiced by Azerbaijan? Do you not feel that you are using the same rhetoric? Azerbaijan is also talking about capitulation, and you are too. If it is indeed capitulation, why are you sitting here? Why are you receiving a salary as a representative of a capitulated country? If you consider that the country is capitulated, then you do not see yourself as an MP of Armenia, but rather as a representative of the forces that, based on your reasoning, have capitulated."
Pashinyan remarked that the opposition continuously brings up Azerbaijan's agendas. "You say, 'Why aren’t you raising the issue of the return of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh?' From morning until evening, Azerbaijan is talking about Western Azerbaijan; you do not see that? Many forces in Azerbaijan want there to be no Armenia. Is this new information for you? Such forces can be found in the east, the north, and the west as well. I am not Azerbaijan's spokesperson; go open your websites and read what Azerbaijan wants. I am not here to tell you what Azerbaijan wants; I am here to say what Armenia wants," he emphasized.
In response, Garnik Danielyan said, "You get agitated by questions as if these should not be directed at you. I will go give them to a journalist; you are the prime minister, I should be asking you, why do you give such irritable answers? I have only asked two questions."
