Solar Eclipse Expected: When and How to Watch

On the evening of October 2, inhabitants of Earth will witness an astronomical phenomenon—the solar eclipse. However, not everyone will be able to see it live.

The Moscow Planetarium reports that the eclipse will be an annular partial eclipse, during which the surface of the Earth will intersect with the lunar conical shadow, as the Moon is too far from Earth to completely cover the Sun. The annular phase of the solar eclipse can be observed in the southern part of South America, as well as in the central and southeastern regions of the Pacific Ocean.

The maximum phase of the eclipse will occur at 22:45 Yerevan time, when the Moon will cover 93% of the Sun's diameter, taking place at an altitude of 69° above the horizon in the southeastern region of the Pacific Ocean.

Tomorrow, on October 2, the partial phases of the solar eclipse will be visible in the southern part of South America, the north of New Zealand, the central and southern regions of the Pacific Ocean, and much of Antarctica. The eclipse can also be followed through a live broadcast here.
