Aliyev Again Accuses Armenia of Failing to Provide Information

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has accused Armenia today of allegedly refusing to provide information regarding the fate of missing persons. In a message addressed to participants of the International Association of Prosecutors conference, he stated that around 4,000 Azerbaijanis are currently missing.

Yerevan has repeatedly declared at the highest levels that it is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan to clarify the fate of individuals classified as missing. In March, Armenia's commission on prisoners and missing persons convened a meeting. During the meeting, the director of the National Security Service underscored the importance of negotiations with Azerbaijan.

Since November 2020, Armenia has handed over the bodies of 51 Azerbaijanis killed in the 44-day war, as well as the remains of 140 Azerbaijanis who died in the 1990s. According to Yerevan, 993 Armenians have been considered missing since the early 1990s, and around 200 soldiers have been missing since the 44-day war.
