Shahramanyan Responds to Pashinyan's Accusations Against Him
In Armenia, numerous criminal cases have been initiated, and a relevant investigative committee has been established in the National Assembly, which will publish its conclusions in the near future. This was stated by Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan during a conversation with reporters in Yerablur, addressing the question of who is ultimately responsible for the events in Artsakh.
When asked if the conclusions of the investigative committee would serve as a basis for him to understand who is to blame, he replied, “Not only that, we have our opinions, but we can talk about it after getting the results of the relevant criminal cases.”
Regarding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements that the opposition brought him to power and that he himself signed the document on the dissolution of Artsakh, Shahramanyan remarked that a lot is being said, but it remains to substantiate those claims.
When asked who put all this in Shahramanyan's “pocket,” he stated, “We found ourselves in a very heavy and complex situation in September 2023; I have stated several times that I assumed those responsibilities, the accountability, at a time when almost everyone had abandoned Artsakh, and we made decisions based on the created situation.”
Shahramanyan emphasized that he took on this duty, understanding the complexity of the situation, without shying away from the accountability he needed to take on at that time. “I was very aware of what it meant to assume that position and said we made decisions based on the created situation. No one could predict what the outcome would be. Until the very last moment, the people of Artsakh did not want to leave their homes. We were also negotiating with the Azerbaijani side to ensure the situation remained stable and to begin negotiations regarding the future fate of Artsakh and its people, but we did not receive the appropriate guarantees from Azerbaijan that the population could live safely,” he noted.
