Turkey Ready to Participate in Peace Conference Proposed by Kyiv: Erdoğan's Statement
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that his country will participate in the peace conference proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He made this statement to reporters during his visit to New York, where he attended sessions of the UN General Assembly.
“Hakan Fidan and our intelligence will be in contact with them on this issue. We hope that our country will be part of this process to establish peace in the region. We did not hesitate to take on responsibility and strive for it,” Erdoğan stated. However, the president emphasized that “the parties are still far from” a peaceful solution.
“We see the opportunity to meet, and we can meet with both the Ukrainian and the Russian sides. If we can navigate this difficult path and reach our goal, we will have rendered a great service to humanity. The parties must refrain from provocations, the arms race, and the warlike atmosphere where it is the weapons talking instead of people. But regardless of everything, we will continue to seek that hope more,” Erdoğan added.
