Why No Proceedings Were Initiated Against Pashinyan: Former Prosecutor General Explains

To accuse someone of a crime, a criminal procedure is necessary, which requires legally prescribed evidence and grounds. At that time, there were no evidence to initiate criminal proceedings against Nikol Pashinyan. This was stated by Armenia's former Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan in an interview with NEWS.am on September 25, addressing the observation that when he was prosecutor, many demanded the initiation of criminal proceedings against Nikol Pashinyan, but this did not happen, and now he demands the Prime Minister's resignation.

"There is not a single case, not a single situation where there were sufficient factual data obtained by pre-trial and investigative bodies and the prosecutor's office did not resolve the issue of criminal prosecution. Moreover, I say this about anyone, without exception," he said.

To the question of whether he continues to insist that Nikol Pashinyan should resign, Davtyan replied: "I have presented my arguments in my demand, and those arguments have not passed at this moment."

Regarding his participation in the actions of Bagrat Srbazani's movement, the former Prosecutor General said: "I mentioned in my speech back then that I do not emphasize leadership at this moment. For me, the most important thing has been the consolidation around national ideas. I see the only way out of the existing problems in our country as the unification of national forces."

Artur Davtyan also deemed unacceptable the process of approving the regulations of delimitation commissions in the Constitutional Court.
