Bayramov Complains About Armenia

On September 24, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

It was emphasized that the presence of strong political will from both sides is fundamental for the development of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. Azerbaijan is fully committed to goodwill, equality, mutual respect, and cooperation based on benefit, highlighting the importance of continuing and further developing this cooperation.

The importance of the activities of the Azerbaijani-Iranian state commission for cooperation in the economic, trade, and humanitarian fields was underscored, including the activation of cooperation in various directions such as economy, trade, transportation, and communication, as well as identifying projects of mutual interest.

The Iranian side was informed in detail about the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It was noted that “the most serious obstacle to the signing of a final peace agreement is the Constitution of Armenia, as well as the continuation of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in several legal and political documents.”

Furthermore, it was mentioned that “against the backdrop of ongoing revanchist trends in Armenia, the rapid militarization of Armenia and the increase in military support to Armenia from various countries are damaging efforts to ensure security and stability in the region.”
