Will Biden Discuss Striking Russia with Long-Range Weapons with Zelensky?
U.S. President Joe Biden is set to discuss the possibility of lifting the prohibition on strikes deep within Russia with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, announced John Kirby, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council, on September 24.
Biden will address the topic of striking Russia with long-range weapons during his conversation with Zelensky. According to Kirby, the U.S. currently maintains a restriction on the use of American long-range missiles by Ukrainian armed forces for strikes within Russian territory. Biden has not changed his mind, Kirby added.
"Our policy regarding long-range strikes is that the weapons provided by the U.S. should not be used against targets in Russia," he clarified. It is worth noting that on September 22, Biden negatively responded to a question about whether he had made a decision to lift the restrictions on the use of Western weapons by Ukraine for strikes deep into Russian territory.
